Important French silver-gilt pocket watch

An important French silver-gilt pocket watch with an exceptionally rare dial, made by Philibert Dagoneau, circa 1650. Early French fire gilt full plate verge movement with pierced and engraved balance cock and silver regulation disc, gut string, without hairspring, regulating device with worm gear, iron balance.
Exceptionally rare silver six hour dial, with from one o’clock till six o’clock Roman numerals and from seven o’clock till twelve o’clock Arabic numerals, the outer ring runs from zero to sixty minutes per hour and divided into two minute sections, outermost date ring has a manual setting, blued steel iron hand which points to the minute ring.

Splendid later made case, the front cover with a cast Biblical image of Samson slaying the lion and on the back cover a cast image of Moses carrying the Ten Commandments.
