Jules Jürgensen 1808-1877
He was born in Le Locle 1808 as son of the watchmaker Urban Jürgensen (grandson of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet). In Copenhagen Jurgensen received his training in the watchmaking business of his family and in addition studied mathematics, astronomy, and foreign languages. Shortly after the death of Jacques-Frédéric Houriet, Jürgensen went to Switzerland and opened a watch manufactory in Le Locle. His precision watches gained worldwide recognition.
