–
A Swiss gold and enamel hunting cased minute repeating keyless lever watch with American eagle and crescent star motifs, circa 1865. This watch features a damascened movement with a lever escapement, wolf’s tooth winding, and a bimetallic compensation balance. It includes two polished steel hammers that strike coiled gongs. The white enamel dial showcases Roman numerals, an outer Arabic minute ring, and a large subsidiary seconds display.
–
The front of the gold case is adorned with dark blue translucent guilloché enamel, centred with a diamond set American eagle with a shield on its breast, surrounded by diamond-set stars, and a diamond-set foliate border. The back features a crescent moon and star motif with diamond set borders, all set against a dark blue translucent guilloché enamel background. The polished gold cuvette has a milled border, complemented by a gold pendant and bow, and a diamond set crown. The case bears the maker’s mark JAD incuse, with covers and cuvette numbered 17738 and the Neuchâtel hallmark. The back cover is additionally numbered 8550.

The movement is functioning properly and keeps time accurately. The repeated work is operational and in sync with the hands, which move smoothly. The plates and bridges show some tarnishing, along with light scuffs and scratches. The dial has a hairline crack that runs from the centre to the edge between 10 and 11 o’clock. Regarding the case, there are some chips and losses in the enamel around the outer borders of both the front and back. The most noticeable damage is around the edge of the front case and at the top of the back case.
