An English gold key wind pocket watch by Joseph Penlington, Liverpool, Chester hallmark for 1840. Gilt 3/4 plate Swiss lever movement, cut and compensated bimetallic balance, diamond end stone, No. 5409. Frosted gilt dial, applied gilt Roman numerals, outer minute divisions, blued steel hands and centre seconds. 18 Carat polished open face consular case, crest to back. Case stamped ‘HF’ and movement signed.
