An English repoussé gold pair cased quarter repeating cylinder watch by James Rice, London, circa 1750. Gilt full plate movement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved cock with diamond endstone, neat conversion to cylinder escapement, signed gilt dust cap. Slightly later white enamel dial, Roman chapters, Arabic minutes, gold beetle minute hand and gold spade hour hand. Pierced and engraved inner case with band of scrolls and grotesque mask enclosing floral nosegay, the outer pierced, repoussé and chased with scrolls enclosing classical scene.
