Mater Dolorosa or Our Lady of Sorrows are names by which the Blessed Virgin Mary is referred to in relation to the sorrow in her life. According to research only three other watches by Patek Philippe, end of 19th century, with similar portraits are known to have survived. The style of the dial is very similar to the famous enamellist Pierre Raymond and although it is not signed it is likely to be from his school.
