A very fine English 18K yellow gold full hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1820. Enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions, gold hands and subsidiary seconds on the six. A frosted gilt movement, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, and a swan-neck micrometre regulator. Dial and movement signed, case hallmarked.

Robert Roskell was traditionally associated with his partner Peter Litherland, who made the manufacturer famous for the quality of its verge escapements (rack lever escapement). Roskell Sr. often worked in close association with his children and that of his brother John.
