A rare Belgian silver pocket watch made by J. Deville in Liège, circa 1770-1790. This watch features a key wound mechanical movement with verge escapement. The signed white enamel dial displays painted Arabic hour numerals, outer minute divisions, a winding square at two o’clock and gilt pomme hands. The silver case is finely engraved on the back with a humorous erotic scene showing a dirigible balloon launch and three gentlemen looking through the bezel at a naughty scene of two couples on a low wall.
