A rare Irish verge pocket watch with “mock pendulum balance”, circa 1730.
Silver polished case with a large lateral hinge. Signed silver, Champlevé style dial with engraved foliate decor, eccentric chapter ring with inlaid radial Roman hours, eccentric regulation scales at “5” and “8”, glazed aperture for the mock pendulum, gilt background and blued “Poker & Beetle” hands. Full plate movement, keywind, finely hand-engraved and monogrammed, with chain/fusee, lavishly decorated baluster movement pillars and “mock pendulum balance”.
