Humbert-Ramuz & Cie., Swiss watch manufacturer
Humbert-Ramuz & Cie. in La Chaux-de-Fonds was founded by Charles Humbert and Ulysse Humbert-Ramuz.
–
In 1867, Ulysse received British patent No. 2388 for his construction, whereby a hunting cased pocket watch was pulled out by opening and closing the lid, Remontoire Perpétuel à Décrochement (Perpetual Remontory with Detachment). In 1868, he further received American patent No. 77 213. In America, the invention of this construction is attributed to Henry Hirsch and Seligman Oppenheimer. At the Paris Exhibition in 1867, Humbert-Ramuz & Cie. won a silver medal.
–
In 1881, the company again won a silver medal at the National Watch Exhibition in La Chaux-de-Fonds. In 1887, the brand name Diamant was listed and Humbert-Ramuz & Cie. was granted U.S. patent No. 363 959 for a see through dial on May 31 of the same year. In 1888, the company was renamed Charles Humbert Fils. The brand name Avenir was registered four years later. In 1888, the company name was changed to Humbert-Ramuz & Cie. In 1926 and 1966, Humbert-Ramuz & Cie. was registered as a trademark by Jules Bloch. Avenir was a brand name from 1973 for Auguste Reymond S.A.
