Gold watch with perpetual calendar and moon phases

An extremely early Swiss, 18 carat gold and enamel astronomic keyless pocket watch, circa 1867. With retrograde perpetual calendar and moon phases. Accompanied by Patek Philippe box and the Extract from the Archives. A polished case, front cover with a blue enamel animal engraved, back cover with blue initials FDS engraved and a hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dials for the months, retrograde date, aperture for the day and moon phases and blued steel Spade hands. Frosted gilt bar calibre movement, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with gold temperature and meantime adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Case and cuvette signed, movement numbered on the front plate.

The present watch is amongst a group of watches of early perpetual calendar watches made around the time of the 1867 Paris World Exhibition. The dial layout is unusual and distinctive and it is unusual to find a Patek Philippe pocket watch with perpetual calendar and moon phases only.
