Gold open faced keyless lever by Patek Philippe

A very fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold open faced keyless lever watch, circa 1980. 17-170 manual winding nickel lever movement stamped with the seal of Geneva, compensation balance, swan neck regulator, 18 jewels. White enamel dial, Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds. Case with engraved scrolling pattern to both bezels and bow, snap on case back finely engraved with geometrical scrolling pattern. Case dial and movement signed. With a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production in 1980 and sale in 1988.

As early as the 1960’s Patek Philippe began incorporating skilled artisan techniques such as enameling, engraving and skeletonisation in watches.
