A Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased quarter repeating pocket watch made for the Latin American market, circa 1890. Highly jeweled nickel lever movement, wolf’s tooth winding. Signed gold cuvette inscribed ‘Fabricado expresamente para Angel Sanz‘. Engraved silvered dial, Roman numerals, applied gold floral motifs, subsidiary seconds and blued steel hands. Engine turned case with monogram to the center within a shield design.

This watch was made for Angel Sanz who was the head of customs at the Port of Arecido, Puerto Rico. He was married to Trina Padilla, the daughter of one of Puerto Rico’s most famous poets, Jose Gualberto Padilla, known as ‘El Caribe’.
