An Austrian gold and enamel Egyptian harp form watch, circa 1850. Fitted with an earlier gilt verge movement, pierced and engraved balance bridge signed ‘Christian Mayer’. White enamel dial. The case overlaid with translucent blue enamel over engine turning, en grisaille with putti, now with enamel damage, open work moon and star, underside with translucent green and red enamel white enamel borders accented by engraved trophies of music, curved neck ending in a snake head.
