Gold keywind pocket watch with chased medallion case back

A French 18 carat yellow gold open faced keywind lady’s pocket watch, retailed by Curé in Lyon, second half of the 19th century. This watch features a keywind mechanical movement with a cylinder escapement. The white enamel dial displays painted Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track, Breguet hands, and is signed Curé à Lyon. The small, round 18 carat yellow gold case has a case back decorated with a finely chased oval medallion depicting a country scene with a dog and a tortoise, set against a guilloché background. The inner case is in 18 carat yellow gold, also signed Curé à Lyon, confirming the retailer’s identity throughout.
