Pocket chronometer with chronometer escapement

A heavy and exceptionally large pocket chronometer in very beautiful condition, made in Switzerland, circa 1890. The full hunter case of this watch features three lids crafted from 14 carat gold, is engine turned on both sides. The original enamel dial features Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gold hands. The very fine movement is fitted with a with pivoted detent chronometer escapement, a helical hairspring, a fine adjusting device and screwed gold chatons.
The cuvette, dial and movement are marked “Chronomètre”.
