A very fine minute repeating keyless pocket watch with concealed erotic automaton made in Switzerland, circa 1890. This numbered hunting cased watch was crafted from 14 carat gold and punched with maker’s mark LBF for Louis Brandt & Fils. The cuvette features a concealed polychrome enamelled erotic automaton showing the scene of Faust and Mephisto with young Margarete.

The dial has Roman hours, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals marking each five minute interval, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and elegant gold hands. The LeCoultre movement is fitted with a precision lever escapement of the finest Swiss quality, screw down gold chatons, 21 rubies and wolf’s toothing, repeating the minutes.

Most erotic automatons have rather simple movements by Lugrin and usually only a quarter repeater. Here, however, a top Swiss caliber with a minute repeater was used.
