Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine and rare Swiss 14 carat pink gold open faced pocket watch with minute repetition made by Borel Fils & Cie in Neuchâtel, circa 1910. It features a high grade mechanical crown winding gold plated movement with a lever escapement, 20 jewels, a compensation balance with a Breguet hairspring, and an integrated minute repeating mechanism. This mechanism audibly strikes the hours, quarters, and minutes on two internal steel gongs, triggered by a sliding lever on the caseband at 3 o’clock. The enamel dial shows black Arabic numerals for the hours, a fine outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and pink gold Louis XV style hands. It is signed Borel Fils & Co., Neuchâtel.
–
The timepiece is housed in a round three body, 14 carat solid pink gold open faced case featuring a finely engine turned reverse back cover centring a vacant circular cartouche. The case includes a matching partially engine turned solid gold inner protective cuvette bearing the engraved brand signet alongside the repetition designation, a fluted pink gold winding crown, a sturdy suspension bow, and internal case stamps matching the movement number.
