A Swiss 14 carat yellow gold hunting cased keyless pocket watch made by International Watch Co., Schaffhausen, circa 1886.  The cover and caseback are polished, cover is also engraved with the cypher R I D. The caseband is chiselled, and the cuvette engraved with: Jra R. Downer. / From his Parents. / on his 21st Birthday. / Dec 26th 1891. The case is made by J.S., an American casemaker. A white enamel dial with Radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 and blued steel hands. A nickel plated, ¾ plate movement, going barrel, gold screwed chatons, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, polished steel index regulator with long tall. Signature on the dial.
