A fine Swiss, hunting cased, keyless, quarter repeating, 14K rose gold pocket watch with concealed erotic automaton, circa 1890. Made for the Russian market. A solid, polished case. Hinged gold cuvette concealing the polychrome painted on enamel erotic automaton scene depicting Mephistopheles, Faust, and Marguerite, on an engraved silvered backplate. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, subsidiary seconds. Steel spade hands. A matte gilt movement, 17 jewels, straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs by activating slide on the band.
