Pocket watch with diamonds and matching chatelaine
–
A very fine neo Renaissance gold and enamel pocket watch with diamond setting and matching chatelaine, made in Geneva, Switzerland, circa 1880. This watch has a numbered full hunter and beautifully chiselled case which is crafted from 18 carat gold in waterdrop shape and has fantastic neo Renaissance enamel work on both sides, representing dragon motifs, set with exceptionally large diamonds on both sides and the diamond on the spring lid has a diameter of approximately 7mm. The matching golden chatelaine, also crafted from 18 carat gold, is enamelled in the same way, approximately 100 mm long and weighs approximately 26 g. The cuvette is marked Genève and a list of movement parts. The two coloured champlevé dial has Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and filigree steel hands. The glazed movement is similar to movements made by Patek, Philippe or Vacheron & Constantin and features a fantastic Geneva strait line lever escapement, wolf’s toothing, 11 rubis and gold wheels.
