This treasure is a mystery. The case is one of the most precious pocket watch cases from the 19th century known. The diamond setting of approximately 15-20 ct shows that this pocket watch was made for a very special and, above all, wealthy customer, most probably for the Russian market. This watch was then modernised in the 20th century, possibly by Cartier. It is very likely that the watch also received the black enamelling on the inside at this time and that the pendant was converted to crown winding.
