Gold open faced repeater
–
An extremely rare and fine five minute repeating chronometer in the presentation box from a Berlin retailer made by Henry Capt in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1880. The numbered, plain open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and the inside of the back lid is inscribed Chronomètre répétition 5 minutes. The white enamel dial has Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The glazed, top quality movement is numbered, has a precision lever escapement and a very rare five minute repeater.

Dial, case and movement are signed by the watchmaker, the presentation box is signed by the retailer Frank Völkel Uhrmacher Berlin, and the case and movement have matching numbers.
