Historically interesting watch with Art Nouveau case

An historically interesting pocket watch with dedication and Art Nouveau case, made by Patek, Philippe & Co in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1909. The unusual case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and features a monogram GNP on the back. The cuvette has a dedication For Gregory N. Peek, Omaha Nebraska, Presented by Employees of John Deere Plow Co., Omaha, Christmas 1909. The white enamel dial features an outer minutes track withread Arabic 5 minute numerals, black Arabic hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and gold hands. The numbered movement is fitted with an exquisite Patek, Philippe anker chronometer movement, 20 jewels, 8 adjustments and Geneva striping decoration.
The cuvette, dial and movement are signed.

George Nelson Peek – industrialist, agricultural economist and foreign trade consultant- was born on the 19th of November 1873 in Polo, Illinois as the son of Henry Clay and Adeline Chase Peek. Peek worked for the Deere and Webber Company, Minneapolis, Minnesota, between 1893 and 1901.
