Gold cross watch with cross shaped movement
–
A pendant form watch set with diamonds, featuring winding and time setting via the crowns, probably made by Felipe Hecht, Genève, Switzerland, circa 1880. The full hunter, cross shaped case of this watch is crafted from 18 carat gold with silver niello decoration and is lavishly engraved. The lid, decorated with an anchor and set with rose cut diamonds, includes a concealed opening button at the bottom of the raised cross, operating a spring lid mechanism that opens the front cover. The white enamel dial bears Roman hour numerals and steel hands, while the hinged case back conceals a movement featuring a cross shaped lever escapement and a bishop’s crook lever.
