A fine and unusual Swiss, 18k yellow gold, painted on enamel and rose-cut diamond-set keyless pocket watch, circa 1870. Accompanied by a gold chain. Made for the South American market. A reeded band, the front cover decorated with blue enamel, the centre with gold and diamond-set design, the back cover decorated en suite, hinged gold cuvette with engraved border.

Engraved silver dial with painted radial Roman numerals, the centre and outer border with applied gold foliate decoration, subsidiary seconds. Blued steel cathedral hands. A matte gilt movement, three-quarter plate, jewelled to the third wheel, wolf’s tooth winding, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, cuvette and movement signed.
