Gold open faced cylinder pocket watch
–
A very fine Swiss, 18K gold and black enamel pocket watch, circa 1870. Accompanied by a fitted box and a matching gold, diamond and black enamel chain. The back cover with black enamel is centred by a diamond rosette surrounded by Fleur de Lys decoration, and the outer border with engraved floral pattern. Hinged gold cuvette. Enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions. Black Breguet hands.
A matte gilt movement, Lepine calibre, jewelled cylinder escapement, plain three arm gilt balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette signed.
