A Swiss gold hunting cased pocket watch, circa 1880.
18 Carat gold engine-turned case with a reeded band and gold dome. Enamel dial with Roman radial hours, extra seconds, and blued Breguet hands. 1/2 plate movement, rhodium-plated, Geneva Striping, screwed chatons, club-tooth lever escapement, screw compensation balance, and counterpoised lever. Dial and movement signed.

Borel & Courvoisier was founded in 1859 by Jules Alphonse Borel ( 1832 – 1898 ) and his brother-in-law Paul Courvoisier ( 1834 – 1894 ) in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Paul’s brother, Jean Courvoisier, also worked in this company. The company was represented at the world exhibition in 1893. After Paul Courvoisier died, the company was renamed Borel Fils & Cie.
