A Swiss 18K pink gold quarter repeating, grande & petite sonnerie keyless pocket watch, circa 1880. Made for the Hispanic market, Francisco Varquez Mexico. The case has floral, foliate and geometric chased decoration with a blank cartouche on the front cover. Hinged gold cuvette with engraved dedication. Enamel dial with painted radial Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds, outer minute divisions and blued steel pear hands. Rhodium-plated movement, 31 jewels, two-train, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Case, cuvette and movement signed.
