Gold lever watch with a glazed movement

A heavy Swiss, 18K yellow gold, hunting cased, a keyless pocket watch with a chronograph, circa 1875. Accompanied by the original Huguenin fitted wood box and the sales receipt from P.W. Wood, Montreal. Sold by P. W. Wood, Montreal, on 31st March 1879. A solid case with engine-turned covers, the front cover with a small central engraved monogram, polished band. Hinged gold cuvette with the peripheral engine turning, glazed exterior to view the movement.

White enamel dial with narrow radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, outermost decimal chronograph track, and subsidiary seconds. It has blued steel Breguet hands.
A nickel movement, wavy-line decoration, 20 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, counterpoised straight-line lever escapement, the escape wheel with gold jewel cap, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, cuvette and movement signed.
