A very fine Swiss, 18K gold and purple enamel pocket watch set with pearls, circa 1870. A polished bezel, the back cover with guilloche purple enamel background with red dots and silver stars, outer border set with pearls, repeating on the bezel. Hinged gold cuvette. Guilloche purple enamel dial, black Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions. Blued steel hands. A matte gilt movement, jewelled cylinder escapement, plain three arm gilt balance, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette numbered.
