Gold open faced manual wind pocket watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced Art Deco pocket watch made by Ulysse Nardin in Le Locle and Geneva, circa 1930. Countersigned by retailer Pierre Dunoyer in Alger. This watch features a refined, rhodium plated manual wind mechanical movement with an anker escapement, a bimetallic compensation balance and counter coiled hairspring. The bridges are finished with Geneva striping and jewelled with high grade rubies. The silvered dial features applied gold Breguet hour numerals, a central painted enamel frieze motif matching the bezel’s decoration, sunken subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and gold heavy moon hands.
–
The case has a hinged back cover decorated with a vibrant horizontal geometric champlevé enamel band showing an intricate multicoloured stylized floral and foliage motif. The interior of the reverse is engine turned, stamped with the Ulysse Nardin brand mark, 18K gold purity hallmarks and a matching case serial number. Dial signed by the watchmaker and retailer, the case and movement numbered and signed by the watchmaker.
