Gold open faced keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced pocket watch, circa 1900. It has a mechanical crown winding manual movement with a fifteen jewel straight line lever escapement, compensated balance, visible lifts, a Breguet balance spring, and a pin set time setting mechanism operated by a specialized square pusher window on the dial edge between 1 and 2 o’clock. The white enamel dial features black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer minute track with Arabic numerals from 5 to 60, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and gilt Louis XV style hands. The timepiece is housed in an 18 carat solid yellow gold open faced case with an intricately engraved case back showing a large scrolling foliate monogram, a matching 18 carat gold cuvette engraved with technical horological details, a fluted winding crown, and a sturdy round suspension bow.
