Gold open faced lever dress watch
–
A Swiss 18 carat yellow gold open faced dress pocket watch, housed in a circular case signed by Omega and made for the French market, circa 1915. This watch has an unsigned and unnumbered mechanical hand wound movement with lever escapement. The circular white enamel dial shows a central black apocryphal Omega logo, printed black Arabic numeral hour markers paired with baton indices, an outer minute track with alternating red Arabic five minute numerals (5–60), and an indented subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, paired with polished gold toned spade hands.
–
The 18 carat yellow gold case has a hinged back cover elaborately engraved with large, interconnected Art Nouveau monogram initials within a finely textured foliate framework. It opens to reveal a solid 18 carat gold dust cover (cuvette). The inner case lids bear French horsehead gold assay hallmarks, indicating production or verification in the French provinces between 1838 and 1898. The piece shows signs of wear, including minor surface scratches and a possibly replaced hand. It is preserved in its red velvet presentation box with a fitted white satin lined interior display cushion.
