Gold half-open faced lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare Swiss, keyless, half-open faced, minute repeating, 18K rose gold pocket watch with split-seconds chronograph, circa 1888. Made by Patek, Philippe & Cie, Genève, retailed and cased by Tiffany & Co., New York. Made in 1888, sold on July 17, 1889. A solid, polished case, rectangular pusher on the band for the split-seconds function, locking bolt at 11 o’clock, concealed hinges. Hinged gold cuvette.

White enamel dial with painted Breguet numerals, outer minute and 1/5 seconds divisions with red Arabic 5-minute/ seconds numerals. Blued steel spade hands. A nickel-silver movement, Geneva striping decoration, 23 jewels, straight-line counterpoised lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating activated by a slide on the band. Dial, case and movement signed Tiffany & Co.
