According to the report, this watch is a museum object, because even the collection of the Audemars Piguet Museum has not a watch with this early Audemars Piguet caliber, only an archive photo (No. 2979). According to expert opinion of Philip Poniz, one of the most respected pocket watch experts in the world, Sotheby’s and Antiquorum expert, the watch is the only known exemplar of its kind, made for the American market, sold in 1888. Philip Poniz has been working for about 30 years for the most important auction houses and museums as experts and reviewers for pocket watches.
