An exceptional rare Swiss gold hunting cased minute repeating pocket chronometer featuring a triple calendar, moon phases, and chronograph, circa 1890. This watch with an equestrian themed case was crafted for M. J. Pack Bombay (Indian Market). Frosted, gilded movement with pivoted detent escapement, jewelled to the centre, blued steel helical spring, and two polished steel hammers repeating on coiled gongs. White enamel dial with bold black Roman numerals, outer minute track, chronograph seconds above with Arabic numeral divisions, and four sunken subsidiary dials for day, date, month, and subsidiary seconds, combined with an aperture for moon phases, and gold filigree hands.

18 Carat gold case, the front and back covers each engraved with the head of a horse, surrounded by engraved flowers and foliage, bezels, and a band featuring repeated geometric engraved decoration; chronograph pusher locked via a lever protruding from the bezel when the cover is closed; repeating slide to the band; short levers to the bezel for independently adjusting all calendar functions; glazed inner cuvette; gold outer cuvette signed and numbered M. J. Pack, Bombay, No. 38756; covers also numbered 38756, with the front cover bearing the case maker’s mark in the form of a Maltese cross initialled J M D D to the points and J & Co. to the centre.

The movement is not operating or repeating and requires attention. All calendar functions, including moon phases, adjust correctly using the levers on the bezel. The dial shows minor scratches. The case is in generally good condition with light scuffs and scratches, while the decoration remains well-defined.
