Silver open faced lever pocket watch
–
A rare and fine Swiss silver open faced U.S. Navy deck watch with 36 hour power reserve made by Longines Watch Co, circa 1912. This timepiece features a tiered case that has been engraved with the words U.S. Navy on the back. The rhodium plated ¾ plate movement has Geneva striping decoration, 17 jewels and five adjustments.
The center wheel is chatoned, and the balance is compensated with gold screws and a blued balance spring. The cam type fine adjusting device adds to the watch’s precision. The silvered dial displays Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track, sunk auxiliary second at 6 o’clock, a power reserve indicator at 12 and blued spade hands.
