Unsigned gold double open faced calendar watch
–
A Swiss gold double dialled calendar watch with centre seconds, circa 1890. The watch features a frosted gilded movement with a lever escapement, a bimetallic compensated balance, and is numbered 7789. It has two dials: The first dial is made of white enamel, displaying radial Arabic numerals. It has an outer track for minutes and seconds, along with blued steel hands that feature fleur-de-lys terminals. This dial includes a centre seconds hand and a sunken centre showcasing monochromatic enamel views of the world, labelled Mappemonde en deux Hémisphères, with each view marked as Hémisphère Occidental and Hémisphère Oriental. The second dial is also white enamel, containing three subsidiary dials for the date, month, and day, all displayed in French.
–
The watch is housed in a gold, double open faced case with scooped bezels. It features two recessed pushers on the band for manual adjustments of the day and date, as well as an olivette for the handset.

The movement is not functioning consistently, though it can run briefly for a few seconds. Occasionally, the second hand catches and moves along with the minute and hour hands when adjusted. The day and date do not advance automatically with the hands, but the adjustment buttons can independently change the day and date. The dials are generally in good condition, with a scratch below and to the left of the day-of-the-week dial on the calendar. The case has light scuffs and a small indentation on the band near the base.
