A fine and rare Swiss, minute repeating, 18K gold and painted on enamel, keyless, watch with automaton jacks, circa 1890. Chronos by LeCoultre & Co., finished by
H. Barbezat Bole, Locle, retailed by Heiniger y Bachmann, Medellin. Made for the Hispanic market. Entirely engraved case with leaves and scrolls. Hinged gold cuvette engraved with technical details and foliage. Glazed gold-rimmed cover to view the movement.

Small off-white enamel dial, gold paillon shadowed Arabic numerals, outer gold paillon minute divisions, subsidiary seconds, central paillon rosette, flanked by polychrome painted on enamel Chronos and cherubs repeating hours, quarters, and minutes on bells, the whole on a polished steel plate. Black spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, 31 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight-line lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Signed LeCoultre under one hammer, movement signed H. Barbezat Bole, cuvette signed by the retailer.
