An ‘Extra Slim’ dress watch made especially for Bruno Fieremans ‘Blon D’hin’, by Cartier in Paris, France, circa 1944. The numbered open faced case of this watch was crafted from 18 carat gold and has a back lid with a dedication: Toute le spectacle à Blon-Dhin son bienfaiteur 8-5-44 (For all of Blon D’hin’s performances, his benefactor 8-5-44). The original silvered dial has Roman hour numerals and steel hands and the numbered movement features an extra thin top quality precision lever escapement, Geneva striping, is adjusted in eight positions and has 19 jewels.
The dial, case and movement are signed.

Georges Blon D’hin   
Georges Blon D’hin, born Bruno François Fieremans, in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean (Belgium) on May 8, 1874. He moved to France and became a popular entertainer in Parisian concert halls and theater director. He was also a prominent figure in the early 20th century French music hall scene, particularly known for his songs in the “Troupier” (Soldier) style. He died suddenly at the Clermont-Ferrand train station on June 28, 1951.
