A fine Swiss gilt and enamelled portrait pearl-set centre seconds watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1850. Gilt partly skeletonized movement profusely engraved with scrolls, jewelled through the centre, standing barrel, counterpoised right angle lever escapement, uncut balance poised with blued crescent weights, wound and set through the gilt dust cover engraved Bovet in Chinese characters.
White enamel dial with Roman chapters and blued steel hands. The case back with a painted portrait of a lady in an elegant bonnet on red guilloché reserve, the bezels, pendant and bow set with seed pearls.
