Gilt, enamel and pearl pocket watch

An elegant Swiss gilt, painted on enamel and pearl set pocket watch with centre seconds, circa 1850. Made for the Chinese market. An empire case, pearl set bezel, pendant and bow, reeded band, the back cover decorated with a painted on enamel figure of a young lady in 18th century costume holding a fan. Translucent green enamel background over the radial engine turning, pearl set border and a hinged cuvette. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and gilt ovoid hands. Matte gilded and foliate engraved movement, Chinese calibre, standing barrel, jewelled duplex escapement, five arm polished steel balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed.
