A fine and elegant Swiss, 18K gold, enamel, ruby and rose-cut diamond-set lady’s keyless brooch in the form of a butterfly with concealed watch, circa 1890. Made for the Chinese market. In the form of a butterfly, the wings overlaid with translucent green, blue and yellow enamel and set with rubies and rose-cut diamonds, the central body hinged to reveal the dial, the winding crown formed from the butterfly’s antenna.

White enamel dial with radial blue Arabic numerals, red 12, outer gold dot minute indexes. Gold spade hands. A frosted gilt movement, bar calibre, 15 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, blued steel flat balance spring, and an index regulator. Property of an Israeli Collector.
