Beetle-shaped watch with matching gold chain

A fine Swiss gold, enamel and diamond-set beetle-form keyless cylinder lady’s pendant watch with concealed dial and matching chain, circa 1880.
The underside of the case is realistically chased and engraved, the wing covers entirely decorated in translucent red enamel over engine-turning and set with rose-cut diamonds, the thorax is also diamond-set and with a black enamel collar, ruby eyes, the hinged spring-loaded wing covers opening from a button in the base to reveal the dial. White enamel dial with radial blue Arabic numerals and red 12, outer gold dot minute divisions and gold spade hands.
Matte gilt movement with eight jewels, a cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring and an index regulator.
