Gold astronomical double-face pocket watch

A very fine and impressive Swiss, 18K gold, hunting cased, keyless, an astronomical double-face pocket watch with calendar and phases of the moon, circa 1880. Made for the Hispanic market. A heavy case, both covers elaborately engraved with dragons, floral and foliate pattern, band engraved with a repeated pattern, a special device that allows one to open only the top cover with the same push-piece. Silver dial, radial Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds, centre and outermost with applied varicoloured gold matte floral motifs. Blued steel pierced hands.

Reverse: silver, two subsidiary dials for days of the week and months, phases of the moon aperture at 12, outermost Arabic date scale. A nickel-silver movement, damascened with a radial pattern, 17 jewels, gold motion train to the calendar, exceptionally well-finished calendar plate, straight-line calibrated lever escapement, cut-bimetallic compensation balance with Breguet balance spring. Both dials and case cover signed movement signed triple.
