An extremely rare Swiss sterling silver key-wound pocket Chronometer, circa 1880. With a one-minute tourbillon regulator, spring detent escapement, free-sprung balance spring and thermometer in Réaumur, Centigrade and Fahrenheit. A massive case with an engine-turned back, transparent hinged cuvette with winding aperture, and reeded band. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, thermometer sector at 12 in Réaumur, Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Sunk subsidiary seconds dial and blued steel Breguet hands. Nickel-plated movement, bar calibre, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, two-arm cut bimetallic compensation balance with Earnshaw type gilt wedge temperature compensation weights, blued steel free-sprung flat balance spring, polished steel carriage.
