An unusually small Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased double sided calendar pocket watch, circa 1880. Keyless nickelled bar movement with frosted steel wolf’s teeth winding work, going barrel, plain cock with polished steel regulator, compensation balance with blue steel overcoil hairspring, club foot lever escapement, escape pivots with end stones. White enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds, gold hands. Under the back cover on the reverse side, the day date calendar is indicated by gold hands on a white enamel ring dial, steel set lever operated by a gold pin in the band, the calendar changed automatically by a polished steel pawl on the movement. Plain case with an engraved dedication on the back cover.
