A very fine Swiss 18K yellow gold hunting cased keyless pocket watch, circa 1890. Made for Cowell & Hubbard, Cleveland, Ohio. Made for Cowell & Hubbard, Cleveland, Ohio.
A solid, polished case, the front cover with an engraved foliate monogram, the back with a further engraved monogram and a hinged gold cuvette engraved Bushnell H. Jone. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary seconds and blued steel spade hands. A rhodium-plated movement, Geneva striping decoration, 17 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, moustache straight-line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator with an engraved scale on the centre bridge. Movement signed Patek Philippe & Co. & by the retailer, dial signed Cowell & Hubbard, case unsigned.
