A Swiss ornamental gold enamel verge pocket watch, circa 1770.
The simple decoration of this watch is characteristic of its time. Instead of showing an elaborate scene, portrait, or bouquet of flowers, it features a sophisticated engine-turned pattern with translucent red enamel. An 18 carat gold case, rims with white enamel decoration with golden dots, back with engine-turned pattern and translucent ruby red enamel. A white enamel dial and a full plate movement with chain/fusee and three-arm brass balance.
